Claire Cheney is a writer, photographer, and world traveler who launched Curio Spice, a fair trade organic spice business, in 2015. As a new solo business owner, she wanted coaching on how to develop an effective sales and marketing strategy, build her brand, and create packaging and marketing collateral.
Good Egg conducted a needs assessment and provided monthly coaching, strategy, and hands-on assistance in packaging, branding, sales development, and the website launch. We created a sales script and conducted role-plays to help Claire build confidence in cold-calling prospective accounts. In addition, we pitched a story idea to the Boston Globe that resulted in an article about Curio Spice.
Curio Spice’s sales increased 847% from April 2015 to April 2016. In November, 2016, Cheney launched a storefront in Cambridge, Mass. featuring directly sourced spices, salt cellars, pepper grinders, and other food and gift items.
“As a new business owner, I was happy to have an experienced coach with expertise in Fair Trade and local foods to help me move forward with all the decisions I had to make,” Claire says. “Having Myrna Greenfield on retainer for six months was like having a coach on call.”
